New York Loft Style Living in Cape Town

Web Ref #: 603
Price: From R 5300 per night
Location: De Waterkant
Bringing its very own slice of New York urban living to Cape Town, but with a twist – there are sea and mountain views as opposed to views of skyscrapers.

With its high-tech, sleek lines and exposed brick walls synonymous with New York loft style living, this Cape Town Penthouse is ideal for guests wanting to be in the heart of Cape Town’s trendiest area.

This open-plan 3 bedroomed apartment situated on the 13th floor with 2 levels is part of a secure high rise apartment block designed by one of Cape Town’s top architects, Arthur Quinton.

Wrap around balconies surround the building and there is a 360 degree view of Cape Town from private roof-top terrace area.

Industrial style chrome bannisters, steel art deco lights and fragments of unfinished bricks set the tone throughout. There are minimalist touches of elegant white décor in each bedroom and the bathrooms boast plenty of cupboard space, large showers and square sinks, asserting that clean modern lines complement this unique living space.

The Metropolis feels like a natural extension of the surrounding beauty and floor-to-wall windows encompass the whole apartment.

Step into the Penthouse and you’re overwhelmed with natural light and the gentle flow of the open-plan living space from the kitchen to the lounge/dining area.

The vistas of Cape Town swallow you from the moment you set foot inside this luxury space.

On your left of the entrance is a contemporary kitchen furnished with a work island and all modern amenities. Accents of steel and splashes of silver in the kitchen greatly contrast the otherwise clean interior. There are inviting views of Signal Hill and Table Mountain from the kitchen area.

The lounge and dining area has a flat-screen TV, a subtle chocolate L-shaped couch and a glass dining table. Sweeping views of the VA Waterfront’s yacht basin, the World Cup stadium can be enjoyed from the balcony. There are electric blinds on all of the balcony doors and plenty of space for relaxation.

Tucked around the corner from the open-plan living area is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

Colourful artwork on the brick wall adds charm and character to the room. With the same views as that of the lounge/dining area and housing a small section of the balcony, it’s perfectly placed for privacy.

The two other bedrooms are upstairs on the second level which is accessed via a narrow, curvaceous staircase.

The master bedroom sits directly above the lounge and bedroom area on the first floor. The room is connected to its en-suite bathroom via a small corridor which looks down into the living area. Adjacent to the master bedroom is a small, double bedroom with crisp white linen, an en suite bathroom and balcony with views. A narrow stairwell leads up to the roof terrace which is ideal for capturing the sun.

The Penthouse certainly straddles two worlds – city slicker and tranquil living.

It is not ideal for children and guests who battle with stairs.

Located in De Waterkant, it is within walking distance of Cape Quarter mall, outdoor cafes, restaurants and the bustling Somerset Road.

It is about a 10 minute drive to the beaches of the Atlantic Seaboard and 5 minutes from Cape Town central.

Guest Reviews:

September 2015: "Simply put this is one of the best apartments in all of Cape Town. Space was great, but the views were simply spectacular. 360 degrees views, From Table mountain, Lions Head, Robben Island, CT Stadium, and waterfront district. We also didn't expect the daily housekeeping which was a nice touch. Great Bar just around the corner and easy access by uber to everything. Would highly recommend it."
