The Most Environmentally Sensitive Lodge in Africa

Web Ref #: 337
Price: From R 8100 to R 16200 pp, fully inclusive
Location: Sabi Sands

Sculpted into a slope of the earth, with textures and hues borrowed from nature, the lodge merges so well into the surrounding bushveld that it is virtually invisible. On arrival, a concealed pathway winds down to a dramatic entrance opening to a panorama of vast bushveld.

There are only 13 suites in this intimate lodge, each individually decorated and gloriously luxurious, featuring furniture sculptures created by renowned sculptor Geoffrey Armstrong. Exquisite soft natural fabrics and linens, en-suite glass fronted bathrooms with deep stone baths, indoor and al-fresco showers, private plunge pools and patios with a view onto the African plains, plus on-call butler services - this is truly luxury bush accommodation.

The magnificent Presidential Suite boasts its own steam room, study and kitchen, and of course, a private Land Rover.

The Lodge meets and exceeds the highest international standards, with a well-stocked library, intimate bar, art gallery, sheltered swimming pool, meditation garden; and an underground wine cellar with a collection of over 6000 bottles of wines. Delectable meals are served in the indoor / outdoor dining area overlooking a waterhole - or at night in the magnificent outdoor boma.

As an additional indulgence, the lodge now presents the new, full-service Spa. Each morning and evening safari vehicles depart into the Sabi Sabi wilderness. Sabi Sabi is a recognised 'hot spot' of biodiversity which makes for an astonishing variety of wildlife - including over 200 mammals and 300 bird species.

Safaris are enjoyed in open Land Rovers with close encounters with the Big 5 being a regular occurrence. Environmental awareness walking safaris add an extra dimension to the bush experience, allowing a close-up look at the fascinating smaller creatures of the bushveld.

The lodge is a celebration of ecological responsibility, which belies its 5-Star rating and standing as one of the world's top 10 destinations. No visitor is unmoved by its presence, and everyone leaves a little richer in spirit.

Rates include open Land Rover safaris by day and night to see Africa's big game accompanied by qualified rangers and Shangaan trackers, environmental awareness walking safaris, breakfast, lunch and "boma" dinner, selected beverages and South African house wines. A fine selection of sundowner drinks during your evening safari as well as return transfers from the Reserve's airstrip are complimentary.
